How to collate double-sided scans
- 1
Add the scans
Drop the fronts and the backs as two PDFs, or one PDF holding all the fronts followed by all the backs.
- 2
Say how the backs were fed
If you turned the stack over to scan the backs, they came out last page first: leave the box ticked.
- 3
Collate
The pages are interleaved, front 1, back 1, front 2, back 2, into one PDF on your device.
Frequently asked
Why do my double-sided scans come out in the wrong order?+
A scanner without duplex scans one side at a time: you scan all the fronts, turn the stack over and scan all the backs. The backs then come out last page first. This puts each back after its front.
What if I scanned everything into one file?+
Choose "One file": the first half of the pages are taken as the fronts and the second half as the backs.
What if the counts don't match?+
The pages are still interleaved, and you are told when the two stacks differ by more than one page, which usually means a sheet was missed or double-fed.
Is my file uploaded?+
No. The pages are reordered inside your browser.
Is Collate scans free to use?+
Yes. Collate scans is free and unlimited, with no account and no watermark added to your document.
Are my files uploaded to a server?+
No. Collate scans runs entirely inside your browser, so the document never leaves your device.
Which browsers does it work in?+
Any current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, on desktop, tablet and phone.
