- 2
Place the fields
Choose Text field from the Form menu (or a checkbox, radio button, dropdown, date or signature field) and click or drag where each answer goes. Or press "Find the blanks on this page" to put fields over every printed ____ line and box in one go.
- 3
Name them
Select a field to give it a name, a label, its choices, a default and whether it is required.
- 4
Download
Press Download to get a new PDF with your changes built in. The original file is left exactly as it was.
Frequently asked
Will the fields work in Acrobat and other apps?+
Yes. They are standard PDF form fields (AcroForm), the same kind Acrobat creates, so they can be filled in Acrobat Reader, Preview, Chrome, Edge, Firefox and on phones — and in Fill PDF Form here.
Can I make a signature field?+
Yes. A signature field marks where a signature belongs; the person filling in the form signs it in their PDF app. To place a drawn or typed signature on the page yourself, use Sign instead.
Does it find the blanks for me?+
It can. With a field tool chosen, press "Find the blanks on this page": every underscored line and dotted leader becomes a text field and every box character a checkbox, named after the words beside them.
Is my file uploaded?+
No. The editor runs inside your browser, so the document never leaves your device. Edits are kept as a draft on your own device until you start over.
