How to edit the text in a PDF

  1. 1

    Open your PDF

Drop in the document. It opens in the editor right in your browser and is never uploaded.

  2. 2

Click a line and retype it

Choose Edit text and every line you can change gets an outline. Click one, type the new words, press Enter. The font, size and colour are matched; adjust them in the panel if the guess is off.

  3. 3

    Download

Press Download to get a new PDF with your changes built in. The original file is left exactly as it was.

Frequently asked

Is the old text really removed?+

Where the PDF's structure allows, yes: the instructions that drew the line are taken out of the page, so the old words are gone from the file. Where it does not, the line is covered in the paper colour, which looks the same but leaves the original underneath.

Does the rest of the page reflow?+

No. It works a line at a time, like correcting a printed page: a much longer line runs past its old end, and the lines below stay where they are.

Is this free?+

Editing existing text is part of Pro ($6/month or $48/year). Everything else in the editor is free.
