How to convert PDF tables to Excel

  1. 1

    Add your PDF

Drop in a statement, invoice, report or anything else with tables. It never leaves your device.

  2. 2

    Choose the layout

Give each page its own sheet, or put everything on one sheet to sort and filter it all together.

  3. 3

    Open it in Excel

Rows and columns are rebuilt from the page layout, and numbers come through as numbers you can total.

Frequently asked

Does it work on scanned PDFs?+

Not directly — a scan is a picture, with no text to put in cells. Run it through OCR PDF first, then convert the searchable PDF it gives you.

Are numbers kept as numbers?+

Yes. Plain amounts like 1,234.50 or (45.00) become real numbers you can sum and sort. Anything that might be a code — with leading zeros, slashes or several dots — stays as text, so account numbers and dates are not mangled.

What if my table comes out wrong?+

Cells that span several columns, and text that wraps onto several lines inside one cell, are the hardest to reconstruct. The layout is inferred from where text sits on the page, so tidy, grid-like tables convert best.

Is PDF to Excel free to use?+

Yes. PDF to Excel is free and unlimited, with no account and no watermark added to your document.

Are my files uploaded to a server?+

No. PDF to Excel runs entirely inside your browser, so the document never leaves your device.

Which browsers does it work in?+

Any current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, on desktop, tablet and phone.
